Leprechaun Traps

 LEPRECHAUN TRAPS – FUN PROJECT

DUE:  THURSDAY, MARCH 15TH

Oh my!  St. Patrick’s Day is approaching, and the Leprechauns are on the loose!  You and your family need to make a trap to catch them!  Leprechauns are tricky fellows, so you must be creative and tricky when deciding on a way to catch them.  Remember, there is no right way to build a leprechaun trap.

Creating your trap:

You can make a trap using a variety of household items such as: string, boxes, netting, foil, glue, tape, empty paper towel tube, shoebox, plastic bottle, cereal box, etc.  Be creative!  Use items you already have.  You don’t have to buy new materials.

Helpful hints:

  1. Rainbows are good to use
  2. Color your trap and decorate it with green items (stickers, glitter, etc.)  Leprechauns feel comfortable when surrounded by green.
  3. Four leaf clovers.
  4. Lucky charms cereal.

Remember, leprechauns are small. Don’t make your trap too big!

We will be setting out the traps on Thursday March 15 in hopes of catching a leprechaun on Friday morning, March 16. There is no guarantee we will catch one, but we’ll try!  We will be talking about our projects, and each student will tell us how their trap works.

Good luck everyone.  Let’s do our best!

Mr. Hugh Branstetter

Mini George – 2 Pics

As part of our school’s new program “No Excuse University”, each teacher was given a university to represent.  All teachers are trying to develop goals and improve self-esteem among all children at our school.  Mr. Branstetter’s class will be representing Florida State University.  I thought I would tease my kindergarten partner teacher, Mrs. Berghaus (representing Washington University) and Mr. Wood (representing University of Wyoming) by giving them a good laugh this morning.  They saw the title of our project above and found it humerous.

Jump For Heart – 4 Pics

Parents got together to assist with the “Jump For Heart” program – raising awareness for keeping a healthy heart.  Our kids were treated to many fun activities from our parent volunteers.

George Washington

We learned about the first president of the United States last week.

  1. We read some interesting information about George Washington.
  2. Then, we wrote about what we learned.
  3. Next, we colored a picture of George Washington
  4. Finally, we put it all on construction paper to place on the wall.

Reading and Eating the Gingerbread Man

After reading “The Gingerbread Man”, the students were tested on their comprehension of the story for the 2nd trimester report card.  Then, the kids were surprised by Melanie Wilson (Landon’s mom) when she assisted them in making and baking gingerbread cookies.  We all got to eat them fresh out of the oven.  Wow, they were yummy!  Thanks Melanie.

Candy Everywhere

On Valentine’s Day, our students shared candies, cupcakes, and cookies with each other.  It was a fun sugar-filled day.  I sugared them up, then gave them back to the parents.  I am sure the parents loved that.  :-)

Happy Valentine’s Day * VIDEO *

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Our students made a special video for all our parents on this special day.

Enjoy!

100 Days of School

Wow!  Time is flying fast.  We are celebrating 100 days of school on Tuesday, January 31st.  Just think how much your child has learned since the beginning of the year.  GREAT JOB KIDS!

We will do a little activity in class to celebrate 100 days.
