It was the day of the Halloween dance party in Mr. B’s kindergarten class, and five of his students—Ashton, Evie, Grant, Emma, and Melanie—were decked out in skeleton costumes, ready to shake their bones. Unlike previous dance attempts, this time, they were determined to stay in rhythm. Ashton, who took his role as the lead skeleton very seriously, said, “Guys, we have to make Mr. B proud. Follow my lead and feel the music in your bones!” The others giggled at the pun, but they were focused. As soon as the spooky music started, they all began moving in perfect unison, their skeleton arms clacking in time to the beat.

Ashton led the way with smooth side steps, his bony arms swinging like a professional dancer, and to everyone’s surprise, Evie and Grant were right there with him, their skeletons grooving with serious swagger. Emma, who was known for her wobbly dance moves, was shockingly in sync, her skeletal frame swaying perfectly to the rhythm. Melanie, the class jokester, usually couldn’t resist making a funny face or a goofy move, but today she was focused—well, mostly. Every few seconds, she’d add a little extra hip shake or a dramatic “boo!” in time with the music, but it somehow only made the dance cooler.

Mr. B watched in awe as his skeleton crew absolutely nailed their performance. Their bones practically rattled with excitement as they twirled, clapped, and high-fived, all while keeping perfect rhythm. As the final beat hit, the five skeletons struck a dramatic pose, Ashton’s arms outstretched, Emma and Evie crossing their legs like skeleton ballerinas, Grant doing a skeleton dab, and Melanie pulling the silliest skeleton face she could muster without missing the beat. The class erupted in cheers, and Mr. B, shaking his head with a grin, said, “I don’t know how you guys did it, but that was the best skeleton dance I’ve ever seen!”
