Hi Parents,

Welcome to kindergarten!  My name is Hugh Branstetter, a.k.a. “Mr. B”, and I’m excited to be your child’s teacher this year.  I wanted to introduce myself and give you some important information about our first day.

A.M. Kindergaten begins 15 minutes earlier than the rest of the school.  In the morning, parents and students will enter the kindergarten gate located by the bike racks at 7:35 a.m. Please walk to the opposite side of the kindergarten playground where I will greet you.    At 7:45 a.m., parents will exit the kindergarten playground and Mr. B will bring our students into the classroom to begin our day.

We typically have outside recess from 8:15 – 8:35 a.m.  Please provide your child with a small snack to eat during recess, separate from their lunch.  Also prepare a lunch for your child every day unless they are buying a lunch at the cafeteria.  They will have lunch from 10:25 – 10:55 a.m.

Dismissal will be at 11:25 a.m.  I will walk our “little jellybeans” (students) to the bike racks so I can dismiss them from there.  Please don’t pull your child from the line before they reach the bike racks.  Once I have walked the students into the bike rack area, parents may enter the area to pick up their child.  Even though I will be standing at the entrance to the bike rack during dismissal, ALWAYS, say goodbye before leaving so that I know your child is safe.  Thanks.

Please write your child’s name on the top of their full-size backpack, lunch box, and any jackets they bring to school.

Our kindergarten team has decided to pass out our Introduction Packets/Homework Folders on our Back-to-School-Night which will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22. Most of your questions will be answered at that time.  However, if you have any immediate questions before then, please text me on my cell phone at (951) 532-2884.  You can also ask me questions during parent pick-up, after dismissal of all our students, so I can concentrate on their safety first.

I will not be sending home any paperwork until I see all of you on Back-to-School-Night.  This will ensure that all important documents get to you.

Materials Needed:  

  • Crayola Jumbo Crayons, 8 piece (specifically this one) 🙂 
  • Headphones for iPad learning apps (any type is fine)
